ERRETRE AT SIMAC TANNING TECH 2026: THE NEW PACA DRUM ON SHOW

From 15 to 17 September, Fiera Milano Rho hosts Simac Tanning Tech: Erretre will be there with the latest generation of Blue A.I. drums from the PACA range.

Launched over thirty years ago, the PACA milling drum with automatic loading and unloading has been a benchmark for the tanning industry ever since. The version on show at Simac introduces a technical evolution on several fronts. At the stand - Hall 18, Stand E30-32 F34 - visitors will be able to see it in person and talk to the Erretre technical team.

Lower height, for safer work

Thanks to its smaller footprint, the machine can now be installed even in tanneries with limited space or low ceilings. The reduction also anticipates upcoming workplace safety regulations and allows loading directly from the floor, reducing the physical strain on the operator. A decisive contribution also comes from the new door, now flush with the structure, which removes a further 15 cm of height.

Automatic unloading, now even smoother

PACA drums are known for their automatic unloading system: the drum keeps rotating throughout the entire unloading phase, so the hides never sit still at the bottom, preventing wrinkles from forming, especially under heavy workloads. The hides exit through the partially open door and are collected by a chute at the back, which slides them onto the belt towards the front of the machine.

On the new Blue A.I., the traditional linear belt has been replaced by a curved, patented belt that follows the profile of the rotating drum, maintaining a constant distance from it. This eliminates bottlenecks, ensuring a smooth and safe discharge over a wider area, while also helping to reduce the overall height of the machine. The same belt also makes it possible to load the drum directly from the floor.

Continuous visual control over the process

The safety barrier is fully transparent: being able to see at any moment how many hides are building up lets the operator manage the flow, opening and closing the drum door as needed, to prevent creasing, build-up or hides falling to the ground.

CT9 deduster: more dust extracted, more heat retained

The CT9 deduster has been completely redesigned. Dust extraction is increased thanks to a new generation of filters, fitted with a quick-release system that makes replacement faster. At the same time, the ducts carrying hot air have been moved entirely inside the structure, improving thermal insulation and the efficiency of the heating unit.

LCAS: milling that adjusts itself

The new LCAS introduces an automatic milling mode: the operator selects the desired effect for the leather, and the software autonomously adjusts the working recipe, flagging any process variations. The software also tracks production batch by batch: a barcode or other identifier is all it takes for the drum to configure itself automatically based on data from the company's ERP system.

At the stand, visitors will be able to try this mode for themselves: a dedicated station, featuring the same 21" touch interface as the drum, will let them simulate selecting an effect and see how the software adjusts the recipe accordingly.

M.O.RE on board the machine

M.O.RE, Erretre's software for centralised production management, is now integrated directly into the 21" touch interface on board the drum: it networks all the drums together and allows work to be scheduled on a shared calendar, avoiding overlaps between machines, and lets you review the progress of each cycle afterwards.
