The NER drying tunnel is specifically designed to guarantee a thermal shock-free drying of leather and hides, to avoid subsequent loss of performance of surface areas and sudden changes in leather temperatures, whilst also guaranteeing high-speed operations.
For this purpose, the tunnel consists of various special drying elements (or chambers) featuring individual regulation settings, as regards temperature and airflow rates, and values that can be customised by the operator to ensure maximum flexibility of programmable cycles. Phase by phase the tunnel self-regulates the energy required to evaporate the water content of the finishing process, and envisages the continuous recirculation and filtration of the air in each element, ensuring a dust-free drying environment. It is an original and unique project solution in its kind in the tanning industry and is able to achieve controlled temperature drying profiles.
This is exceptionally useful in reducing the absorption of heat by the hides, decreasing the shrinking of the leather without compromising the softness and appearance of the product. The quality of the airflow in the tunnel is affected by both the temperature and relative humidity of the air. To monitor and control this latter parameter, the NER system is equipped with a probe to ensure the quality of the air maintains the optimal values required to achieve perfect drying. All the drying parameters are regulated by the LCAS touch-screen system.

Modular tunnel
The NER tunnel is a “modular” tunnel where each module is physically separated from the one next to it. This drying tunnel is designed to guarantee “controlled” drying of hides preventing thermal shocks with relative loss of performance of surface areas, guaranteeing no contamination, significant energy savings and high-speed operations.
To this end, the tunnel consists of drying chambers featuring individual heat and airflow regulation options.
The airflow system within each individual phase prevents dust contamination, even in the presence of dirt collecting at the bottom of the tunnel. The airflow moves in the opposite direction to the hides which also guarantees excellent uniformity of distribution, ensuring even drying of the processed hides.
Hybrid
There is also a Hybrid version of the NER tunnel where the drying takes place thanks to the combination of hot air and IR radiation. This solution is extremely appreciated in confined work environments or by those aiming to achieve high-speed operations. Erretre’s drying tunnel was conceived to ease the work of operators, guarantee uniformity of drying efficiency and reduce processing times.
Technology
The entire production line is controlled by an innovative software which simplifies a system with thousands of variables, making it accessible to any operator, thanks to the new graphics interface and iconographic language that simplifies and facilitates control systems in multicultural environments.
With this new software, all the devices are incorporated within a single control unit, along with the energy-saving functions. The design and management of the processing recipes are exceptionally easy using our software. All the processing data is automatically stored during the processing operations with no operator intervention required. Stored data can easily be retrieved by corporate supervision operators with SQL data exchange compatible with the 4.0 systems.
The software also consists of an inline help system with documentation, operator manuals and wiring diagrams that are easily accessed from the operator panel.
