To answer the demand for a more sustainable leather supply chain, Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services have developed a partnership with the Italian leather specialist, Innovative Solutions Technology (IST), a company of ERRETRE Tannery Innovations. IST’s team of highly knowledgeable chemists and technicians, who have decades of experience in wet-end, tanning and leather finishing, has been developing innovative solutions for tanneries all around the world for many years. IST is located in Arzignano (VI), the main hub for leather production in Italy.

IST works on R&D technology projects and is particularly interested in how chemicals are used in production processes. Current IST’s projects include cooperation with the Institute for Creative Leather Technologies (University of Northampton, UK) and LASRA (New Zealand Research Centre), as well researches for tanneries and chemical suppliers to the leather industry. Another important activity of IST is the review of Restricted Substances List (RSL) and their application in tanneries around the world.
